The Winner

An Idol

I have been following the work of Peter Stutchbury for some time now, and was immediately drawn in by the invisible house he built in 2012. His sustainable way of approaching the world and, specifically architecture, is inspiring and has inspired me in my own designs. This man received his award while living in a 'tent', which he says provides a model for sustainability.

It was last year that internationally-renowned architect Peter Stutchbury was presented with the Australian Institute of Architects' Gold Medal.

According to the jury, he has "mastered the art of creating architecture that speaks of the place it inhabits

buildings that are environmentally sustainable, culturally specific and locally embedded."

The Tent

A deep take on modern day living, the idea behind is tent is to present the world with a radical view of living in the suburbs. It is designed to make us think about our lifestyles and reducing our wants, while getting rid of the everyday focus of increasing our material needs. It is this philosophy that has led me to break off from my firm and start my own business.

My History

I have only been working in architecture for the past five years, but already I feel that strong desire to make some changes to the way we live and the way we see the world. We are a very materialistic society, dependent on striving for more and more material possessions at a cost to our environment and our society as a whole.
